Microsoft to Focus on Creating Software for Your Car
Apparently the fact that Mojave turned out to be an ersatz success story gave Microsoft the courage to put its technology in one of the last places to go Microsoft free: your car.
Microsoft has announced intentions to build an entire automotive unit for the massive corporation, apparently so you can experience the frustration of using MSN in your car as well as your home. And they have yet to address how playing Minesweeper while you drive will be any safer than using a cell phone.
I see computer-games-in-cars legislation on the horizon.
Apparently, some of the initial ideas on the table include the ability to search for businesses along your route or connect all your mobile devices into one interface. So far the most well-known (relatively) foray into auto software has been Microsoft's collaboration with Ford to create Sync. The fact that you haven't actually heard that much about it is a testament to its affordability and usability. Sorry, Microsoft, but I hope the newfangled auto software division can create something that will be bigger than that.
Then again, maybe it's best if we wish Microsoft the worst of luck in the car business. Who wants to stare at the Blue Screen of Death during their commute?
